WSOP Update: Event #s 56, 57 and 58
More WSOP action!
Event #56, another (say it with me now) $1,500 NLHE tournament, was won by Tomas Junek of the Czech Republic. Junek has become the first Czech to win a WSOP bracelet. Junek beat almost 2,800 other players to win his first bracelet and over $660,000. He beat Aussie David Borg heads-up for the win. Peter Eastgate finished 4th.
Event #57, the $10,000 Six-Handed NLHE event, was won by Gregory Merson, who took home a whopping $1,100,000+ top prize and the bracelet. The action completed on Day 4 of the event, when Merson and soon-to-be-runner-up Keith Lehr started the day heads-up for the title. After only one hand, Merson was the winner, defeating Lehr’s AQo with his K9s.
Event #58, the $3,000 PLO High/Low event, took a bit longer to wrap up, but in the end, it was Viacheslav Zhukov who took the win and over $330,000. Unlike Event #57, Event #58’s Day 4 was a long-fought battle between Zhukov and the two runner-ups, Roch Cousineau and 2010 bracelet winner Chris Bell. The final table also featured Scotty Nguyen and David “ODB” Baker.
